I myself do not identify as Afro Latina but rather Black-Nigerian--both of my parents were born and raised in Nigeria and then immigrated to the United states in their early 20s. But basically I face similar issues. "I know you're not from here because of your name" This, that, and the other thing. Then on top of that I learned Spanish so people and dumb comments like oh you don't like your culture? You want to be Latina? I swear the negativity can be endless. But then there is always the silver lining when people admire you for embracing your own culture and wanting to learn about others as well (whether it's Spanish, Dominican, Puerto Rican, etc). Now to end my crazy long post I just want to say that your Spanish in this video was NOT trash and I admire your strength to embrace your Black-Latina/Afro-Latina identity and not let others tear you down!Lanrenoreply@blogger.com
